Abstract:
1810 in the village of Stara Ropa, Sambir region, according to the project of Yosyf Vandrushka, the brick church of St. Ilya was built, which is a model of the Teresian-type churches. The church is decorated with polychromy painted by Andriy Demkovych, a painter from Staryi Sambir. Iconostasis of the end of the 19th century, has a rare iconography that combines the image of the prophet Elijah and the Sacred Heart of Christ. In the carving of figurative images, the naive immediacy of the primitivist master attracts attention.
